This is some of my random poetry that doesn't really fit anywhere else. Some will be inspired by dreams, others come from random events in my life. Still others....I don't know where they come from. And some are a combination of all three sources.
All Around Me Wonders
The Black Knight
In the quiet of the wild
Near the laughing of the stream
My tears are free to run
And my heart dares to dream
It is there I washed my hands
In the cool mountain flow
There I stayed till morning
Waiting on the sun's early glow
As the birds sang to each other
And the leaves gently clapped
I laid out comatose
Watching the sun go past
The sun through the leaves
Shining a greenish gold
Squirrels chattered away
Revealing secrets untold
All around me wonders
As beauty goes whizzing by
Why I blankly lie
Staring at the sky
Near the laughing of the stream
My tears are free to run
And my heart dares to dream
It is there I washed my hands
In the cool mountain flow
There I stayed till morning
Waiting on the sun's early glow
As the birds sang to each other
And the leaves gently clapped
I laid out comatose
Watching the sun go past
The sun through the leaves
Shining a greenish gold
Squirrels chattered away
Revealing secrets untold
All around me wonders
As beauty goes whizzing by
Why I blankly lie
Staring at the sky
Arbitrary Creases
The Black Knight
Some days I have nothing to say
Some nights there are no words
It isn't always this way
The lines aren't always blurred
It's a moment of clarity
A moment of noise
A road in front of me
In the darkness a voice
So here's to the moments
When words are just that
A temporary tennant
A glossy matte
Sounds to fit like pieces
Of the puzzle in my heart
Arbitrary creases
Turning into art
Some nights there are no words
It isn't always this way
The lines aren't always blurred
It's a moment of clarity
A moment of noise
A road in front of me
In the darkness a voice
So here's to the moments
When words are just that
A temporary tennant
A glossy matte
Sounds to fit like pieces
Of the puzzle in my heart
Arbitrary creases

Beauty Bright
The Black Knight
Though I’ve never seen your face
Heard your laugh or know your name
I’m a stranger alone in the night
Praying in the moonlight
May you have a golden life
One of courage midst the strife
A gracious word always near
A loving touch to turn back fear
A home built on the Rock
With happy cries and mismatched socks
With vegetables and vitamins
With bible verses and timeless hymns
May you always know a father’s security
As you grow in your mother’s beauty
May aunts and uncles teach you tricks
In yards full of grass and sticks
Where the fireflies dance away
Every worry from every day
And in the Father’s perfect time
May you brightly shine
Reflecting full His glorious might
A daughter of Eve – Beauty Bright
Heard your laugh or know your name
I’m a stranger alone in the night
Praying in the moonlight
May you have a golden life
One of courage midst the strife
A gracious word always near
A loving touch to turn back fear
A home built on the Rock
With happy cries and mismatched socks
With vegetables and vitamins
With bible verses and timeless hymns
May you always know a father’s security
As you grow in your mother’s beauty
May aunts and uncles teach you tricks
In yards full of grass and sticks
Where the fireflies dance away
Every worry from every day
And in the Father’s perfect time
May you brightly shine
Reflecting full His glorious might
A daughter of Eve – Beauty Bright
Blanket Sky
The Black Knight
Underneath the blanket sky
Glowing in the city lights
Beneath the clouds of gold and grey
Lay a quiet winter night
The wind whispers through the trees
Needles dancing in the breeze
Shedding their coat of snow
Waiting for the cold to leave
A handful of diamonds start to fall
Glinting like a crystal ball
Shimmering in the streetlights glow
The beginnings of a snowy shawl
Diamond flakes flutter down
Still, whispers without a sound
Meek, yielding to the breeze’s sway
A silver coat on the frozen ground
Glowing in the city lights
Beneath the clouds of gold and grey
Lay a quiet winter night
The wind whispers through the trees
Needles dancing in the breeze
Shedding their coat of snow
Waiting for the cold to leave
A handful of diamonds start to fall
Glinting like a crystal ball
Shimmering in the streetlights glow
The beginnings of a snowy shawl
Diamond flakes flutter down
Still, whispers without a sound
Meek, yielding to the breeze’s sway
A silver coat on the frozen ground
Brightest Shade of Grey
The Black Knight
The sun shone high above me
And the wind rattled the leaves
As I walked down the path
To that clearing midst the trees
It was silent in that grove
Nothing seemed to breathe
Even the air stood still
Around the fallen tree
Draped on the jutting branches
And tangled in the leaves
Was the brightest shade of grey
A sweater caught on the tree
I’ve not seen anything like it
The air was wont to shine
Around that old grey sweater
Stopping, trapping time
And as I left the clearing
I couldn’t help but turn
To see that old grey sweater
And it shining silver burn
And the wind rattled the leaves
As I walked down the path
To that clearing midst the trees
It was silent in that grove
Nothing seemed to breathe
Even the air stood still
Around the fallen tree
Draped on the jutting branches
And tangled in the leaves
Was the brightest shade of grey
A sweater caught on the tree
I’ve not seen anything like it
The air was wont to shine
Around that old grey sweater
Stopping, trapping time
And as I left the clearing
I couldn’t help but turn
To see that old grey sweater
And it shining silver burn
Churning Round
The Black Knight
There are days when words don't fit
When prose is wrong
And poems quit
There are weeks without words
Where nouns cease
And so do verbs
There are months without syllables
When cadence trips
And rhythm's terrible
There are years without sound
When all I hear
Are thoughts churning round
When prose is wrong
And poems quit
There are weeks without words
Where nouns cease
And so do verbs
There are months without syllables
When cadence trips
And rhythm's terrible
There are years without sound
When all I hear
Are thoughts churning round
Green Dot
The Black Knight
The little green dot stares at me
Steady and calm so faithfully
There’s nothing I can say or do
Nothing to make that green dot you
So I sit here with my mind a whirl
Dreaming of silver and pearls
And when the green dot fades to white
When virtual day turns to night
I’ll still be here waiting for you to come again
Waiting for your green dot among my list of friends
Steady and calm so faithfully
There’s nothing I can say or do
Nothing to make that green dot you
So I sit here with my mind a whirl
Dreaming of silver and pearls
And when the green dot fades to white
When virtual day turns to night
I’ll still be here waiting for you to come again
Waiting for your green dot among my list of friends
Light of Day
The Black Knight
The urban horizon stretched across the darkened sky
As stars faded before watching eyes
Street lights, Taco Bells, and Burger Kings
Some of our...finer things
Neon lights cast a bluish glow
Sets of three red eyes shine as cars slow
In the hustle, midst the noise
A lone figure stands, almost poised
His gaze searches out the east
As he stands, listening to his heart beat
Waiting, watching for something new
His hood sags, drenched with dew
And then, suddenly he smiles
His morning vigilance proven worth while
As the sky in the east turns gold
And the bright neon lights look old
In the shine from the sunrise
A spark ignites in his eyes
He stands there, patiently waiting
As the urban horizon starts deteriorating
The buildings turn black and fade away
Eclipsed from behind by the light of day
As stars faded before watching eyes
Street lights, Taco Bells, and Burger Kings
Some of our...finer things
Neon lights cast a bluish glow
Sets of three red eyes shine as cars slow
In the hustle, midst the noise
A lone figure stands, almost poised
His gaze searches out the east
As he stands, listening to his heart beat
Waiting, watching for something new
His hood sags, drenched with dew
And then, suddenly he smiles
His morning vigilance proven worth while
As the sky in the east turns gold
And the bright neon lights look old
In the shine from the sunrise
A spark ignites in his eyes
He stands there, patiently waiting
As the urban horizon starts deteriorating
The buildings turn black and fade away
Eclipsed from behind by the light of day
Midst The Trees
The Black Knight
My breath fogs the frosty air
As my footsteps crunch the snow
A white snake winds before me
Leading where? I do not know
I continue down this winter path
One frozen footfall at a time
All around me the world stops
Pointing to where the sun doesn’t shine
To a clearing midst the trees
There on a fallen log
Interrupting its snowy scowl
Is hung a tattered sweater
A silver speck on winter’s whitened cowl
Who left it hanging there
I fear I’ll never know
In the stillness I turn to leave
It seems sad to see me go
Leaving it waving midst the trees.
As my footsteps crunch the snow
A white snake winds before me
Leading where? I do not know
I continue down this winter path
One frozen footfall at a time
All around me the world stops
Pointing to where the sun doesn’t shine
To a clearing midst the trees
There on a fallen log
Interrupting its snowy scowl
Is hung a tattered sweater
A silver speck on winter’s whitened cowl
Who left it hanging there
I fear I’ll never know
In the stillness I turn to leave
It seems sad to see me go
Leaving it waving midst the trees.
Miles, Minutes
The Black Knight
The stars fade as the city comes alive
Suns turn to twinkles in your eyes
Streetlights glow in the haze
Stoplights color the passing days
Your hair billows in the wind
As the only car disappears around the bend
I’m standing on this corner all alone
Minutes, miles from my home
The fading wind murmurs in my ear
A muffled whisper of what once was clear
Dry leaves rustle in the trees
A hollow applause for the breeze
As the sun rises and turn the haze gold
Changing the new into old
I stand there on that corner all alone
Miles, minutes from my home
Suns turn to twinkles in your eyes
Streetlights glow in the haze
Stoplights color the passing days
Your hair billows in the wind
As the only car disappears around the bend
I’m standing on this corner all alone
Minutes, miles from my home
The fading wind murmurs in my ear
A muffled whisper of what once was clear
Dry leaves rustle in the trees
A hollow applause for the breeze
As the sun rises and turn the haze gold
Changing the new into old
I stand there on that corner all alone
Miles, minutes from my home
Out of My Seat
The Black Knight
My heart is beating faster
To the rhythm that’s overtaken my feet
That has me snapping my fingers
And jumping out of my seat
The drum beat is thudding strong
As the music carries me along
My knees just can’t resist
As I bounce and sway my hips
Jumping through the air
Soaring in the strobing lights
The disco ball spins around
Scattering color into the night
To the rhythm that’s overtaken my feet
That has me snapping my fingers
And jumping out of my seat
The drum beat is thudding strong
As the music carries me along
My knees just can’t resist
As I bounce and sway my hips
Jumping through the air
Soaring in the strobing lights
The disco ball spins around
Scattering color into the night
Overtake the Night
The Black Knight
There’s a longing in my heart
That I’ve never felt before
A candle light in the dark
Shining on a distant shore
I see the mountain top
Though distance hides its face
Before me the light stops
As I keep this steady pace
I wish there were words to say
Hugs to give, or time to share
To turn this night into day
A morning bright and fair
But the novelty of the light
Is earned through the struggle
Till victory overtakes the night
And joy replaces vigil
That I’ve never felt before
A candle light in the dark
Shining on a distant shore
I see the mountain top
Though distance hides its face
Before me the light stops
As I keep this steady pace
I wish there were words to say
Hugs to give, or time to share
To turn this night into day
A morning bright and fair
But the novelty of the light
Is earned through the struggle
Till victory overtakes the night
And joy replaces vigil
Painted By Moonlight
The Black Knight
Does the moon always shine so bright?
Everything is shimmering tonight
Each petal, each leaf of the rose
Right down to the thorns interrupting its flow
I’ve never seen such beauty before
Never wondered o’er a flower more
There’s almost a magic in the air
Happiness and joy form an indivisible pair
Everything is glowing tonight
Here where the moon shines so bright
Even the clouds are kind
As they gleam with a silver shine
Darkness is like a friend
Loitering till the very end
I’m marveling at this world anew
Gorgeous, beautiful, sparkling, true
How I never saw its beauty before…
That’s a mystery I’ll gladly ignore
Sitting here, painted in the moon light
Everything is shimmering tonight
Each petal, each leaf of the rose
Right down to the thorns interrupting its flow
I’ve never seen such beauty before
Never wondered o’er a flower more
There’s almost a magic in the air
Happiness and joy form an indivisible pair
Everything is glowing tonight
Here where the moon shines so bright
Even the clouds are kind
As they gleam with a silver shine
Darkness is like a friend
Loitering till the very end
I’m marveling at this world anew
Gorgeous, beautiful, sparkling, true
How I never saw its beauty before…
That’s a mystery I’ll gladly ignore
Sitting here, painted in the moon light
Seasons
The Black Knight
The seasons are all backward
Mixed up and out of line
Which makes me start to wonder
If I’m correctly counting time
Last December's snowy days
Brought joy and chills twofold
January was cold as I expected
Though the sun mostly shined
February’s warmth came
Right around Valentine’s
March’s fog obscured the sun
And left me feeling cold
April’s weather alternated
Between sunshine and showers
But May’s warmth brought forth
The most beautiful of flowers
June was nice and warm
Its thunderstorms were few
July was spent outside
Watching sunsets with a view
August’s winds changed the wood
And blew the small trees down
September’s start gave way to rain
Before frost froze the ground
October’s cold gave way to snow
A most fierce and mighty storm
November found the sun again
Though its light was hardly warm
And so I sit here waiting
For the warmth to come anew
Sitting here I'm hoping
To be sitting here with you
Mixed up and out of line
Which makes me start to wonder
If I’m correctly counting time
Last December's snowy days
Brought joy and chills twofold
January was cold as I expected

Silver Lining
The Black Knight
Just another dark night
Only clouds dance across the sky
Every star hiding from sight
Lost to my searching eyes
Looking midst the heavenly mist
Even the moon hides from view
Shy from the clouds’ kiss
And bashfully teasing you
Growing bolder by and by
Eking out from the haze
Glowing brighter across the sky
And gleaming in sparkling grey
Radiant edges, their platinum crest
Clouds dressed in their best
I see each of them shining
All with their silver lining
Only clouds dance across the sky
Every star hiding from sight
Lost to my searching eyes
Looking midst the heavenly mist
Even the moon hides from view
Shy from the clouds’ kiss
And bashfully teasing you
Growing bolder by and by
Eking out from the haze
Glowing brighter across the sky
And gleaming in sparkling grey
Radiant edges, their platinum crest
Clouds dressed in their best
I see each of them shining
All with their silver lining
Simple Pleasures
The Black Knight
It’s the simple things I treasure
Life’s greatest joys and pleasures
Like clouds in the evening sun
That shortness of breath after a run
Smelling a home cooked meal
All the different shades of teal
The allure of beautiful mystery
Your voice when you sing just for me
Sitting dry midst the pouring rain
Every time I hear your name
Flowers bursting into bloom
Candles flickering in a darkened room
The way your hair frames your face
Reading in a quiet place
Sunrise and the morning’s dawn
Sleep and well earned yawns
Competition burning the midnight oil
Shoots poking through the soil
A brother’s rough and tumble love
A sister’s gentle, caring hug
Little fingers holding mine
The ways your eyes sparkle and shine
Thoughts: meaningful and deep
A refreshing night’s sleep
Each is a simple treasure
Priceless beyond all measure
Life’s greatest joys and pleasures
Like clouds in the evening sun
That shortness of breath after a run
Smelling a home cooked meal
All the different shades of teal
The allure of beautiful mystery
Your voice when you sing just for me
Sitting dry midst the pouring rain
Every time I hear your name

The Tattered Sweater
The Black Knight
The brisk fall breeze
Blows through the golden leaves
Sweeping through the pines
To a clearing devoid of time
In the clearing that never sleeps
Mystery runs dark and deep
And to the fallen tree is fettered
An old grey tattered sweater
Swaying limply while hanging there
In the dead and silent air
…I’m whisked away by the autumn breeze
Away from the clearing midst the trees…
Blows through the golden leaves
Sweeping through the pines
To a clearing devoid of time
In the clearing that never sleeps
Mystery runs dark and deep
And to the fallen tree is fettered
An old grey tattered sweater
Swaying limply while hanging there
In the dead and silent air
…I’m whisked away by the autumn breeze
Away from the clearing midst the trees…
This Dream of Mine
The Black Knight
Falling snow on a winter’s night
I’m lost in this dream of mine
Frapuccinos and Christmas lights
Talking to pass the time
Everything falls into place
Evergreens to nativities
Never taking my eyes off your face
Time flies too quickly
Holding you close as the music starts
On a snow covered parking lot
Fox trotting under the stars
Dancing after the music’s stopped
Every second is a wonder
Caught in the moment, lost to time
Enchanted by your touch, leaning on your brother
Moments I’ll make forever mine
But wishing doesn’t make it real
Every dream fades in time
Reflected in my tearless eyes
I’m lost in this dream of mine
Frapuccinos and Christmas lights
Talking to pass the time
Everything falls into place
Evergreens to nativities
Never taking my eyes off your face
Time flies too quickly
Holding you close as the music starts
On a snow covered parking lot
Fox trotting under the stars
Dancing after the music’s stopped
Every second is a wonder
Caught in the moment, lost to time
Enchanted by your touch, leaning on your brother
Moments I’ll make forever mine
But wishing doesn’t make it real
Every dream fades in time
Reflected in my tearless eyes
Waking By
The Black Knight
Call me when this page is done
When the chapter ends and the battle’s won
When the ink leaves the pen
When the storyline ends
I’ll be waiting for you darling
At the concert of the starlings
Where the birds sing and fly away
As the night overtakes the day
Wake me when the seasons turn
When the maple leaves are burned
When the snow kisses the ground
As the world stops spinning round
When you call me, I’ll be there
Waiting to see your dancing hair
Waking by your quiet smile
Home on our secret isle
When the chapter ends and the battle’s won
When the ink leaves the pen
When the storyline ends
I’ll be waiting for you darling
At the concert of the starlings
Where the birds sing and fly away
As the night overtakes the day
Wake me when the seasons turn
When the maple leaves are burned
When the snow kisses the ground
As the world stops spinning round
When you call me, I’ll be there
Waiting to see your dancing hair
Waking by your quiet smile
Home on our secret isle
Winter's Glow
The Black Knight
Winter's glow fills my room
An incandescent yellow bloom
Reflected from the cloudy sky
On this cold, February night
The pine trees slightly sway
Sentinels in the golden haze
Topped in a frozen white
Boughs dancing through the night
Footprints cross the snowy ground
Running, sauntering all around
Marked by shadows pale and slight
Cast by the yellow midnight lights
An incandescent yellow bloom
Reflected from the cloudy sky
On this cold, February night
The pine trees slightly sway
Sentinels in the golden haze
Topped in a frozen white
Boughs dancing through the night
Footprints cross the snowy ground
Running, sauntering all around
Marked by shadows pale and slight
Cast by the yellow midnight lights
"Writer's Moment"
The Black Knight
The wind in your hair
The sunlight on the page
You're sitting there
A muse transcending this age
Truth knows no time
Isn't fettered to any single place
Watching your eyes shine
I can see truth lighting up your face
Your pen held tight
As beauty is formed in ink
Words dancing in sunlight
Flowing too fast for me to think
The water laps gently
As you're writing on the shore
Imagination is all that's left to me
As I wonder about your words of yore
The sunlight on the page
You're sitting there
A muse transcending this age
Truth knows no time
Isn't fettered to any single place
Watching your eyes shine
I can see truth lighting up your face
Your pen held tight
As beauty is formed in ink
Words dancing in sunlight
Flowing too fast for me to think
The water laps gently
As you're writing on the shore
Imagination is all that's left to me
As I wonder about your words of yore
