But we don't have to look in the mirror to see who we are, we don't have to walk, talk, look a certain way to define ourselves. We are each GOD's unique creation, and it is He who defines us. When He says what we are, that we are. No human can take our God given identity away from us, no government can deny us our rights and God's creation (and hopefully His children if we accept Christ's gift). We are God's alone and so far as this world is concerned....we can shatter the man in the glass.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and hated what you saw? Maybe you think you're too fat, skinny, ugly, pimply, tall, short....too you. How could anyone love you? If they could see in your eyes, see all the mistakes and sins you've done....that you enjoyed doing. That you planned out and anticipated. Maybe you see the face of your father or brother, sister or mother staring back at you and you feel like you've been sucked into their legacy, that people can't see you for their faults or their achievements. I feel that way too. I think we all do to some degree. We look at ourselves and see only the bad, see only where we've messed up and hurt others. I don't like the way I walk, the way I talk - it reminds me too much of my brother. I know I don't have to live in his shadow, but I keep comparing myself to him. And I see me making the mistakes that he made, hurting others in the same ways, saying the same things about myself that he has said about himself. I can't see any of the good, I can't see his good achievements (and there are plenty) - all I see are his mistakes that I keep making. And I hate it.

Sometimes we just need to shut up and let someone wiser then us talk. I don't want to say much but I was listening to this song today and felt like I was looking in a mirror. |
