I park in one of the farthest away parking lots at school and hike up the big hill to class. It's good, I enjoy the hike. Walking helps clear my head and prepare me to be positive in my interactions with others.
I only walked up about a third of the hill today. As I started out, I noticed someone else walking down. She was of average height and dressed modestly. I said a quick prayer for her and moved on. I didn't know her, I'd didn't recognize her face in passing - she was simply another human being loved by God and unknown to me.
Well, I get a little further up the hill and hear a car behind me - not terribly unusual. What was unusual was that the car wasn't passing me, it was stopping. The driver unrolled their window and asked me if I wanted a ride.
I've been known to refuse rides before but it was hot out today and I wasn't 100% sure where my class is located (I know now - down the hall on my right and then take a left and another left). So I accepted her offer and hopped in her car.
It took me a while to realize that the driver was the girl I had passed, prayed for, and not thought much of it earlier. She had walked down the hill after her class and decided it was too hot for anyone to have to walk up the hill if she had something to say about it.
Wow.
So Megan, if by some chance you read this and remember going out of your way to drive a stranger up to his class, thank you. And know that what you did brightened my day and encouraged me to look for opportunities to bless others.
