And looking at my much shinier, not so scuffed up shoes today...I'm reminded of what God can do with us. We're all scuffed up, we've lost our polish, we're getting crinkles. That's what sin does to your soul. It tarnishes it. Sin blemishes what was once the pinnacle of creation.
But God, in His mercy and grace, offers to shine us up. Sure, it's not a fun process. Often we'll sit there with all this extra wax on us, looking just as dull as before. And we'll sit there. And sit there. But in His timing, when we're ready, God takes us and shines us up. And if you thought sitting there wasn't fun....trying being furiously buffed. It's not always easy but the end result: a soul renewed by the transformation of our minds away from sin and toward our Heavenly Father.
And maybe, just maybe, if we're really shiny, people will see His face in us.
