I was merging into traffic and a car let me in.
My mechanic came over and talked to me about my car while I was waiting in the shop.
My brother texted me about practice.
My roommate allowed me to help him get some ice when his leg cramped.
My mom made me dinner twice this week.
My boss teased me about my incredibly first world problem.
My dad sat with me for a couple of hours while we were waiting.
My brother asked me for help with his homework.
My girlfriend sat on a cold bench with me and laughed at my jokes.
I was invited to an AFC championship game party.
My friend was using the electric kettle I bought him.
A friend jumped at the opportunity to help me with some secret plans.
A man and his girlfriend came in to work the other day so he could show her some of his construction work in the building and he thanked me on the way out.
My girlfriend teases me and doesn't let me wallow in self-deprecation.
Typing up this (extremely) short list made me realize something. The little things don't revolve around new toys or more stuff. The little things revolve around people. People seeing me as more than just a name, a bill, a warm chair. People seeing me as a person and letting me know that I matter to them.
So next time you have a chance to spend time with someone, find some way to let them know that you care. It doesn't need to be big, over the top, or expensive. Try asking them a question...and listening to the answer. Tell them about something you saw that reminded you of them. View them as a masterpiece made by the Almighty and let that define how you treat them.
